Introduction:

 A village fair is a large gathering of men, women and children on a particular occasion. It is a hilarious annual meeting place of the village people. It is like a mirror that reflects the emblem of rural life. It brings a chance in the monotonous life of the villagers. People of all ages specially the children eagerly wait for this happy occasion.

Place and Occasion: 

A village fair is usually held once or twice a year either on the first or the last day of Bengali year. It is also held on the occasion of some religious or national festival. It is generally held in the central part of the village or on the bank of a river or in front of a Temple or a Dargah or under the spreading big banyan tree.

Things are bought and sold:

 A village fair is an exhibition of the village products. The people of different professions in the village such as a patterns, carpenters, blacksmiths, weavers etc. bring their own hand made things for sell and display. There is a great assemblage of fancy goods such as toys, whistles, combs, hair pins, cheap ornaments, cosmetics, looking glasses, earthen wares, balloons etc. in the fair. Different kinds of household goods and decorated and painted articles of bamboo, wood and cane are also brought for sale. Various kinds of sweet meats and seasonal fruits are also available here. Everybody buys things after his own choice.

Attractions:

 A village fair is a place of joy and pleasure for the villagers. As such some special and attractive arrangements are made in the fair to attract and amuse the visitors. Circus, Magic show, Jatra and Jarigan are the chief attractions of them in the fair. Merry-go-rounds, puppet shows, mock fights, the lotteries etc. are some other special attractions of the fair.

Demerits:

 The village fair has some drawbacks too. As it lacks in arrangements for proper sanitation, it sometimes leads to the outbreak of epidemics. The gambling parties in the village fair tell upon the morality of the village people, besides subjecting them to economic loss. Moreover, undesirable people and criminals visit the fair and commit various kinds of mischief.

Conclusion: 

Rural people are deprived of different kinds of amenities of life enjoyed by the urban people. So, a village fair appears before the villagers with all opportunities for joys and pleasures. It gives them much relief to their toilsome life. On the whole the village fairhas not outlived their utility even now. It is a part or our cultural life

Introduction:

 Everybody should have an aim in life. A man without an aim in life is merely a toy of circumstances. He drifts aimlessly and can never achieve success in his life. So, a man should fix the aim of his life. He may face many difficulties in realizing it, but if he has a strong determination, he must achieve success. I have already fixed the aim of my life. I want to become a doctor. There are several reasons for my choice.

Reasons:

 The profession of a doctor in noble. He renders a valuable service to the suffering mankind. He is the symbol of hope and joy. The face of a man suffering from acute pain brightens as soon as the doctor arrives. The doctor gives him a pill and his pain is cured. A good doctor is respected as an angel.If I become a doctor, I can earn a lot of money. I am not a heartless man. When I become a doctor, I shall treat the poor patients without charging fees.

There is a great dearth of doctors in our country. A large number of people living in our villages die of various diseases owing to lack of medical facilities. I have made up my mind to serve the rural people.

I want to become a doctor, because I am by nature kind and humane. I am pained to see people suffering from various kinds of diseases. My desire to serve the ailing mankind prompts me to become a doctor.

My Scheme:

 Owing to these reasons I have decided to become a doctor. I have taken up Physics, Chemistry and Biology for the Secondary School Examination. My future plans are to get myself admitted to a good Medical College. After passing the M.D. Examination I shall go abroad for higher studies.

Conclusion: 

If everything goes according to my plan. I must become a good doctor. I wish my sweet dream would be fulfilled.

Introduction:

 A newspaper is a paper that gives us news of all that happens home and abroad. It gives us news of day to day happenings of the different parts of the world. It is one of the blessings of the modern civilization. We cannot think of modern life without the newspaper. Man is curious by nature. He wants to know about various events of the world. The newspaper is the best medium to satisfy this curiosity

Kinds of newspapers:

There are many kinds of newspapers, such as the daily, the weekly, the biweekly and the fortnightly. The daily newspapers are full of news. But the other newspapers are full of views and comments on the different news items. Some newspapers come out twice and thrice a day. Because the habit of reading the fresh news is getting more and more with the people.

Organization:

The newspaper has got a big staff like the editor, the sub-editors, the new reporters and the news agents. The small papers manage with one editor. The newspapers are printed in the printing press. The newspapers get news from the big news agencies like Reuter, Samachar, Tass and I.N.F.A. They get the news with the help of the teleprinters.

Usefulness:

Newspapers give news to us. We know the news of the world through the newspapers. They criticize the mistakes of the Government. They give lead to the people. People can know the new invention and discoveries through the newspapers. Newspapers make the people know their rights and duties and their responsibilities.

Draw backs:

Newspapers do harm when they are edited by the bad editors. The bad editors mislead the people. They praise the bad men and blame the good men. They see all things through their own glasses on interest. So the newspapers cease to be the friends of the people. They become the people's enemies.

Conclusion:

In spite of its draw-backs newspaper is the most useful thing in modern life. We cannot think of a day without it. To read newspaper is a good habit. The more we read newspaper, the more we can acquire knowledge. If we do not read it, we shall be like the frogs in a dark well. It is a looking glass of the modern world. So, all of us should read it regularly.

Importance of student life

The student life is the most important period of our life. Our future hopes depend upon it. At this time our mind is like clay. Clay is a very soft thing. The potter makes various things with this clay. Like clay, our mind also can be shaped in different ways. If the pots etc. are once made by the potter, their shapes cannot be changed. Similarly* if our character is once formed in one way, it cannot be changed easily. If we receive good training in our student life, we shall be good citizens in our future life. If, on the other hand, we do not receive good training, we shall not be good men in future. We should, therefore, be very careful. We must take care so that we may receive good training in our student life.

What the student should learn

We must learn many good things in our student life. Our main duty is to learn our lessons at school. We must "gain knowledge. Our character must be good. If we become men of character, people will love us. Our teachers will take great care of us. A boy of bad character cannot become a great man. We must learn discipline. Strict discipline at schools is very good for us. it teaches us obedience, punctuality, diligence, regularity, good manners and forbearance. We must learn perseverance. It is at the root of all success. If we are idle, we cannot prepare our lessons. Idle men are never happy. They suffer much. Everybody hates them. All great men of the past were persevering. Hence *re must persevere. If we fail once, we shall try again and again. We must learn the value of time. We should do everything in time. Time will not wait for us. If time is once gone, we cannot get it back. Our work also is not finished. Hence we must not idle away our time. We must take care of our health. If our health is bad, we cannot do anything. Our whole life becomes miserable. A man with bad health dies early. Therefore, we must improve our health. We must be obedient. We shall do what our parents and teachers tell us to do. Obedience is a great virtue for a student. An important part of a student's life is his social life at school. We mix with other boys in the class-room and play-ground. This exercises a great influence in shaping our character. Here we learn the important lesson of give and take, co-operation, easy social manners and thought for others. But we must be careful so that we may not come in touch with bad boys.

Conclusion

The student life is the best part of a man's life. At this time our main work is to read and play. We should not think of anything else. When we are students, we are free from cares and anxieties. Our heart is very soft. Our mind is very simple. We pass our time very happily. But if we do not perform our duty, we shall not be happy in future. Hence we must do our duty. We shall then be happy and prosperous in our future life.a

Introduction:
 The name of our village is Sonargao. It is a renowned village in the district of Lakshmipur. It bears the testimony to rich heritage of the glorious past. Nature has adorned her with green trees and meadows. The beautiful scenes and the natural environment feed the eyes of the viewers. To me it is the happy land of dream

Site and situation:
 Our native village stands in the district of Lakshmipur. Its land area is about four square kilometers with the vast green field on all sides. Two semi-pacca high roads run through the village leading their destinations to all directions. The houses stand like vigilant guards on the either side of the roads. The green trees and plants in the village are all the more charming. A small river has increased the beauty of our village.

 Life and occupation of the villagers:
Nearly three thousand people live in our village. Most of them are Muslims with only a few families of Hindus. Both the Hindus and the Muslims live together in peace here. The villagers are simple, innocent and free from modern vices. Most of them belong to middle class. Agriculture is the main occupation of the villagers. About 80% of people are agriculturists. Some traders, service holders, lowers, doctors, and teachers also live here. Most of the villagers are active and energetic. They always try to develop the village in order to make it an ideal one.

Educational institutions, Markets and other institutions:
 We have some amenities of modern life here. We have, for example, three primary schools, One Boys’ High School, One Girl’s High School, One Dakhil Madrasah and a post office. All of which are located at the centre at of the village. A market also stands in the middle of the village where the necessaries of our daily life are available.

Communication:
The means of communication of our village is highly developed. A semi pacca road runs though the village linking the inter-district road that leads to different directions to other districts. One can easily go along this road to the district town and the nearest railway station Chaomuhani. Within the village there are about 10 kilometers of semi pacca roads connected with five cyclone centers, market and educational institutions.

 Climate:
The climate of our village is moderate. It is quite congenial to the health of the people all the year. So, most of the people of our village are healthy.

Conclusion:
 I am very proud of my village. It is an ideal village in Bangladesh. The villagers live here in peace and amity. I often go to my village though I live Dhaka. My village, to me, is the sweetest place on the earth. I have a great love and affection for it

                                A Journey by Train

Introduction:
 In modern days man remains preoccupied with his daily activities and worldly affairs. He has no time to enjoy the beauty of nature and refresh himself. But the journey by train may serve him well if he wants to escape the monotonous urban life and pass the time in the midst of natural beauty.

Time and occasion:
 My annual examination got over. I had recess for some days. During this time of the year the weather is good enough to make a journey. Incidentally I, with some of my friends took a sudden decision to go my sister’s house in Chittagong by train. Accordingly, on the appointed day we reached Kamalapur railway station by taxi before sunrise. We bought our tickets and got into the train. The guard blew the whistle, waved his green flag and the train began to move.

Description of the journey: 
The train began running at a full speed. I am fond of scenic beauty from the very beginning of my life. I, keeping myself aloof, sat beside a window and looked outside through it. The sun was rising with all its splendid beauty. Dew drops on the soft grass of meadows were glittering like pearls. I enjoyed these scenes and sights with a joyful mind. By this time the train was moving through rural areas. I gazed and gazed at the house, trees, meadows with golden crops and other panoramic view with a cheerful mind. Things came to my vision and disappeared in the twinkle of an eye.

My mind was full of joy. I looked and looked through the window. Everything seemed running swiftly to opposite direction. The train ran at full speed. Now and then it crossed abridge over a river with a chattering noise. As it was an express train, it touched only at a few big stations. At about noon when the train entered the Chittagong district I felt great joy seeing the hills on either side of the line as I had not seen a hill before. After eight hours journey at last our train reached Chittagong railway station at about 1 p.m. We got down from the train and went to my sister’s house by taxi. Our return journey was equally pleasant one.

Conclusion: 
The pleasant and enjoyable journey lasted for a few hours. Despite that the journey left a permanent impression in my mind. I never forget the sweet memory of this journey. The scene of the memorable journey peeps into my mind in the moment of solitude when I become tired of the mechanical urban life.

A Journey by Boat

Introduction:
 A journey by boat is very pleasant as well as interesting. At the same time it is something like a thrilling adventure to man living in a city. Pent up in a noisy and crowded city like Dhaka, I naturally jumped at the suggestion of some of my friends contemplation for a journey by boat.

Time and preparation: 
It was the month of October, 2010. We made our journey from Dhaka Sadarghat to Munshigonj. We were six in number. We hired a large boat and made all possible preparation for this journey. The day was nice. The river was calm and quiet.

Description of the journey: We started our journey at 12 noon. The boatman began to row the boat and the boat was moving swiftly. Gentle breeze was blowing. The small waves were beating against it. The ripples of the river made a sweet murmuring sound. While passing through, we enjoyed the beautiful sights on both the sides of the river. At about 3 p.m. our boat touches the ghat of a village market. We got down from the boat and bought a large ‘Hilsha fish’. The boatman cooked it and we had a nice meal. After resting for a while we started our journey again. Then the evening came with all its beauties and glories. The last rays of the setting sun reflected on the calm water that enhanced the beauty or the river more affluently. We got on the roof of the boat and enjoyed the grand sight of the nature. The crimson rays of the setting sun added to the beauty of the green fields charmed us. After seven hours journey we reached Munshigonj ghat at about 6 p.m. Some of our friends were waiting for us at the ghat. They accorded us a hearty reception.

The return journey:
 We spent a happy time with them. After a lapse of about two hours we again got into the boat and started our journey. Our return journey was equally pleasant. The boat was passing very gently. It was a moon-lit night. All my friends came out of the boat and sat on the roof. The moon’s beam flooded the whole river and filled it with uncommon beauty. Out of joy one of my friends began singing a sweet song. I thought I was in a dream land where only joy and beauty reign. The boatman also began to sing:-

“Row, row, row, the boat, gently down the stream,

Merrily, merrily, merrily, Life is but a dream”.

When the night advanced, we entered into the cabin and lie down and fell asleep. The next morning when we woke up it was just daylight. Our boat reached the Sadarghat. We got down from the boat. Thus, our journey by boat to a happy end.

Conclusion:
 The journey by boat is really a pleasant one. It provides us a lot thrill and pleasure that cannot be described but to be felt only. Such a pleasure of a journey which we undertook will never efface from memory. Really this journey by boat will supply us serene delight for all time to come.
